for all the people we have ever met and all the people we'd like to

FRIEDRICH WILHELM NIETZSCHE was a German philsospher who lived from 1844 to 1900. Nietzsche is, unfortunately, one of the more tortured madmen. His opinions were strong and blunt and this didn't increase his popularity much either. Personally, we don't agree with everything he said because some of his theories are blaitently hurtful and offensive out of pure dislike for his targets. Also, his ideas that a superhuman race could be created inspired the aryan/nazi movement in Germany, which definetly didn't make him any more popular. In times he is a brilliant lunatic, and others an offensive idiot. Here are all those times...

"Believe me! The secret of reaping the greatest fruitfulness and the greatest enjoyment from life is to live dangerously!"

"As an artist, a man has no home in Europe save in Paris."

"My time has not yet come either; some are born posthumously."

"My doctrine is: Live that thou mayest desire to live again - that is thy duty - for in any case thou wilt live again!"

"Do you really believe that the sciences would ever have originated and grown if the way had not been prepared by magicians, alchemists, astrologers and witches whose promises and pretensions first had to create a thirst, a hunger, a taste for hidden and forbidden powers? Indeed, infinitely more had to be promised than could ever be fulfilled in order that anything at all might be fulfilled in the realms of knowledge."

"The thought of suicide is a great source of comfort: with it a calm passage is to be made across many a bad night."

"Morality in Europe today is herd-morality."

"Is not life a hundred times too short for us to bore ourselves?"

"In the philosopher there is nothing whatever impersonal; and, above all, his morality bears decided and decisive testimony to who he is - that is to say, to the order of rank in which the innermost drives of his nature stand in relation to one another."

"Insects sting, not from malice, but because they want to live. It is the same with critics - they desire our blood, not our pain."

"He who does not need to lie is proud of not being a liar."

"I teach you the Superman. Man is something that is to be surpassed."

"To show pity is felt as a sign of contempt because one has clearly ceased to be an object of fear as soon as one is pitied."

"When a man is in love he endures more than at other times; he submits to everything."

"I call Christianity the one great curse, the one enormous and innermost perversion, the one great instinct of revenge, for which no means are too venomous, too underhand, too underground and too petty - I call it the one immortal blemish of mankind."

"God is dead: but considering the state the species Man is in, there will perhaps be caves, for ages yet, in which his shadow will be shown."

"God created woman. And boredom did indeed cease from that moment - but many other things ceased as well! Woman was God's second mistake."
